Northern Pintails migrate during the night at high speeds (48 MPH). One Northern Pintail flew  1800 miles, the longest nonstop flight on record for this species. These eager breeders migrate to the prairie pothole region of the Great Plains, as well as Canada, and Alaska to nest as soon as the weather starts to warm. Large groups gather in wetlands, lakes, bays, and even waddle through agricultural fields eating grains during wintertime. Northern pintails can also be found in Europe and Asia.
