The common kingfisher, also known as a Eurasian kingfisher, or river kingfisher, is a sparrow-sized bird that has a short-tail and a large head. These birds have iridescent-like blue feathers, an orange belly and a long bill. They fly rapidly, low over water, and hunt for fish diving from riverside perches. Common kingfishers have special visual adaptations enabling them to see prey underwater.
