Allen's Hummingbirds are small, compact, and stocky hummingbirds that migrate up to the West Coast in the winter to breed. Males flash their gorgeous reddish orange throat and put on an elaborate show for females, swinging in circles before climbing high into the sky and diving back down with a sharp squeal made by their tails.
