Sawflies are not flies but rather a subset of the order Hymenoptera which includes wasps, ants, and bees. Among sawflies, the Eastern Elm Sawfly is the largest species in North America. Adults are distinguished by their large bodies, impressive jaws, bright yellow-orange antennae, and leg tips.
