Bumblebee (Bombus) Art Print

$10.00
One of any of the 150 (!) species in the genus Bombus, bumblebees are common sights in gardens around the world.  Their fuzzy “fur” is actually a bristle-like structure called a “seta”. They are known to transport pollen on the specialized, bowl-like segments of their hind legs, where it amasses in yellow blobs.

As long as I’ve known Peter, he has adored insects, giving them the loving attention that Mary Oliver says is akin to devotion. On our first date, we spent the fourth of July at Storm King Art Center. He spent as much time low to the ground, looking for interesting bugs and telling me about their interesting attributes as he did getting to know me. HIs curiosity and gentleness around nature certainly left an impression on me. Now that we’re married, I’m proud to be a collaborator in putting his meditations on his favorite living creatures into other bug lovers’ homes.
