Allen's Hummingbirds are small, compact, and stocky hummingbirds that migrate up to the West Coast in the winter to breed. Males flash their gorgeous reddish-orange throat and put on an elaborate show for females, swinging in circles before climbing high into the sky and diving back down with a sharp squeal made by their tails.
